STEM Exploration at the Center for Dynamic Learning
Do you like being creative? Do you enjoy hands-on learning? Do you have an interest in STEAMM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and manufacturing) careers? If you like magic, if you want to make chemicals react in crazy ways, if you want to create wild potions that explode, this is the class for you! We will be making things bubble, disappear and fly up into the sky. Join us as we perform some awesome weird science experiments for this amazing signature experience!

Mystic Aquarium visit
Interested in ocean life and sea creatures? Onward We Learn is offering your child(ren) an exciting opportunity to attend a one-day in-person Mystic Aquarium visit! During this full-day experience at Mystic Aquarium, your child(ren) will go on a general tour of the aquarium and speak to experts in this career field to learn more about career opportunities in marine science.

University of Rhode Island College Visit
Your student is invited to join us for a visit to the University of Rhode Island! Onward students will shadow college students in small groups and get a firsthand look at what college is all about. In addition, students will be treated to lunch and go on an interactive campus tour.

Rhode Island College Campus Visit
Your student is invited to join us for a visit to Rhode Island College! Students will tour the campus in small groups and have an opportunity to connect with an admissions representative. Afterwards students will be treated to lunch in the dining hall and participate in a Q&A session with current Onward We Learn students who attend RIC to learn about their experience!

Brown University visit
Your student is invited to join us for a visit to Brown University! Students will visit the Music Library where they will learn about a career in music and see some of Brown’s general collections in music, such as books, scores, sound recordings, and video recordings! Students will also tour the campus and enjoy lunch. This will be a great opportunity for middle school students to get a first-hand look at what college is all about.

CAAP (CHALLENGE: Adventure and Academic Program)
The popular and long-running CHALLENGE: Adventure and Academic Program (CAAP) will challenge middle-school learners to explore, solve problems, develop critical thinking skills, and have FUN. Participants embark on a variety of (occasionally ridiculous) investigations, activities, tasks, and stunts that require them to collaborate, set goals, and get creative, then connect what they’re learning to their homes, schools, and communities. Participants in CAAP also work directly with mentors to explore justice-based leadership topics and build foundational literacy and discussion-based skills.
Program dates: Saturdays, March 4 – May 20 (*NO program on April 8 or 15)

Math Academy
The Math Academy provides support for students who feel less confident in their math coursework. Our goal is to ensure that each student has a chance to practice key foundational skills to become more successful math students, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers. The instructors will not only provide individualized learning opportunities, but will engage the students in teamwork and hands-on math games and activities!

Writing Academy
Many students and parents ask for extra support in being able to produce stronger pieces of writing. The Writing Academy is designed to help build foundational skills of grammar, sentence structure, and organization of thoughts. Students will not only work on how to make sure they are answering a prompt correctly, but also on how to successfully put thoughts on paper, self and peer edit, and engage readers more effectively.
